We are looking for students who want to understand how buildings and their systems work, and to use data and AI to operate them more intelligently.

Students interested in physics-based modeling, data analysis, and AI-based control, who want to learn and grow together, are welcome to apply.

Research Topics for Students

01. Building Physics | Thermal environment and energy performance of buildings

  • Analyze how a building's physical characteristics affect its indoor thermal environment and heating and cooling loads
  • Model the heat balance and thermal behavior of buildings and evaluate their energy performance

02. HVAC Systems | Heating, cooling, and air-conditioning systems and their control

  • Analyze the operating characteristics and energy performance of HVAC equipment and study ways to improve efficiency
  • Link simulation tools with data-driven learning models to calibrate equipment models and improve prediction

03. AI x | Intelligent building operation through physics–data integration

  • Analyze the operating characteristics and energy-use patterns of buildings and equipment from BEMS and BAS operational data
  • Train control agents on a digital twin and evaluate operating strategies in terms of energy and indoor comfort
  • Combine physical laws with data to improve the reliability and generalization of prediction models, and interpret the results
